Frequently Asked Questions

  • Alteration Atelier offers adjustments on all wedding gowns and occasionally, Mother-of-the-Bride.

    • The first fitting is an initial assessment of your gown and a collaboration about your vision. This is our opportunity to pin the gown, to give the bride a rough visual of what to expect.

    • The second fitting is a verification of the vision discussed in the first appointment and a try-on of your altered gown. This is the time to try on any accessories so please feel free to bring them.

    • The third and final fitting is aimed to teach you and your chosen “day of companion” how to help with your gown on your wedding day, while addressing any minor adjustments. Brides will be provided with an exit packet with “Tips for the Day”.

  • Small smudges on your gown can be removed with this Woolite method:

Step 1. Fill the cap of the Woolite bottle half with warm water, and a slight dash of Woolite.

Step 2. Mix Woolite solution thoroughly. Check for a “slimy” consistency.

Step 3. Dip a white cloth in the Woolite solution, squeeze gently to remove excess.

Step 4. Place a dry white cloth behind the stain.

Step 5. With your damp cloth BLOT it on the tarnished spot. Typically, the stain moves off the gown onto the dry white cloth behind it.

Step 6. Leave the spot on the gown to dry on its own.
